- UF undergraduate students: Students interested to pursue a scientific career can contact Dr. Voiniciuc to discuss potential research internships. A minimum commitment of 10 h/week for the duration of two semesters (ideally longer) is required. All interns start out as volunteers and are encouraged to apply for funding opportunities, such as the UF/IFAS Summer Research Internship, University Scholars or Artificial Intelligence (AI) Programs, which are all generally due each January.
- Graduate students: contact Dr. Voiniciuc at least 3 months in advance to discuss potential lab rotations. The same timeline applies to support letters for program admissions and fellowship applications.
- Postdoctoral positions: External funding is generally required, so candidates should identify eligible fellowships before contacted Dr. Voiniciuc with unsolicited applications (unless a fully funded position is advertised).
- Mentoring will be provided for qualified applicants to write competitive grant proposals for federal programs, such as:
- Applicants outside the US: Foreign students and scholars can ask Dr. Voiniciuc for a letter of support for funded research exchanges to UF (e.g. Foreign Fulbright Program for many countries or Study, research & teach abroad – DAAD for Germany). Even when the applicant can secure the necessary funding to join UF, F-1 and J-1 visa applications require several months so please contact us 6 to 12 months before the desired start date.
